    Profanity Filter

Shaggy's profanity filter has been turned on by default for all users in order to make nice with the advertising network that pays the bills.

To tell whether it is turned on for you, read the following sentence:

    $#@! $#@! $#@! $#@!
If that line shows up as a bunch of symbols, your profanity filter is on.

To turn it off, do the following:

    1. Select this link to go to your "Edit Profile" screen.
    2. On the "Edit Profile" screen that comes up, scroll to the bottom of the "Edit Profiile [USERNAME]" box that appears in the main column.
    3. The last option in that column is titled "Profanity Filter."
    4. Select "Turn Off."
    5. Click "Save Changes."

You're finished. Please note that you may not notice an immediate change because of the nature of the site's cached pages; eventually, within a few hours, the filter will be totally off.

I am getting a message that says I am not allowed to edit my profanity filter settings. What's wrong?

This happens because you never set your birthdate in your profile when you registered. Because of this, the software believes you may be under 18 and have never heard these words before. To correct this issue, do the following:

    1. Select this link to go to your "Edit Profile" screen.
    2. On the "Edit Profile" screen that comes up, scroll to the middle of the "Edit Profiile [USERNAME]" box that appears in the main column, under the heading "Optional Information"
    3. Select your date of birth.
    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Save Changes" button.

Then return to the second post in this thread and follow those instructions to turn off the filter.
