I'm kappbu on the xbox one.
I'm kappbu on the xbox one.
I made a human that looks like Klaus Kinski, an awoken that looks like Bowie, and a burnt orage Exo. Who to play first???
Played for a few minutes and one thing I noticed is that the social interaction is much intimate than other games. Fireteams of 2-3 players is pretty interesting.
Played a bit yesterday. So far, haven't really noticed anything new over what was seen while playing the beta, but I haven't played beyond the first strike mission either. BTW, I'm pretty sure I could play and defeat the first strike mission while level 4 during beta. Not so much now. I think they bumped up the difficulty on it a little to encourage you to free roam or play crucible a bit.
BTW once you hit lvl 15 on any character you unlock all subclasses. So your hunter could start as a bladedancer instead of the $#@!ty gunslinger at lvl 1
this is really stupid that Bungie blocked day 1 reviews for this... its setting yet another bad precident in game reviews. I'm getting annoyed with Day 1 review: I'm a level 15!, Day 2 review: I'm a level 19 Hunter and level 5 Warlock...
do what you did for Titanfall... the review and then an online stability review...
basically I'm forced to hunt around a bunch of tepid reviews that tiptoe around the features with caveats like "day 1, so the story is sparse but finding a fireteam is easy" doesn't help me decide if I want to pick this up or not.
if you liked the gameplay of halo, you'll like destiny. destiny's story certainly isn't as strong as halo's (at least not yet), but the gameplay feels very similar to the halo campaign. some cool additions/ deviations from halo are the social aspect, random people can come in and save you, you can choose specific missions or go open world exploring. gear upgrades are fun, but not as tedious as in rpg's. at the end of missions it'll give a stat breakdown just like multiplayer, so you can tease your friends when you get 75% of the kills.
in my opinion destiny takes the best of halo, and adds some other cool stuff to it that hasn't been done in an fps yet.
Thanks for the feedback. I really wish that I had a few friends picking the game up as well. That is also a huge negative at this point.
if you don't care about playing with strange nerds you can find ps/xbox friends on r/destinythegame to always have a fireteam available
Damn peer pressure, I think I might have to buy this game on Xbox One...

So i need something to do this weekend, especially after we get our $#@! kicked in by UCLA again and I'm too pissed off to be seen by normal people
Consensus for this is that it is a buy? Do I have to be social with people? I hate being social with people on video games. I only play games alone, even online games.
No need to be social. I only plug in headset if RL friends are on.
Other people can't just voice to you, either, which is nice.
only complaint so far is the limit to fire team size.
For everyone on the fence, I'd say buy it. Super fun.
Everyone I've talked to that has played it is having a lot of fun.
The only detractors I've heard are people who say that they won't play it because it looks too much like every other game ever.
I went all marathon on it and beat it earlier. If I had to guess, I've probably put in about 24 hours of gameplay and went at a moderate pace. I wanted to beat the entire game on Hard from start to finish, so I took some time helping lower level buddies on missions in order to get my level high enough to beat everything on hard. I'm a level 22 now (level 20 xp and level 2 light). It's been a lot of fun. After beating the campaign, there is still a ton to do. They have a "Vanguard Strike Playlist" you unlock at 18. They are your normal raid style runs like rifts in Diablo 3. You pick your level and then it randomly starts you on a strike mission at that level. Engram drops become much more frequent around level 18.
I've gotten one legendary item, a helm with a mohawk on it. Looks good. I've done a couple of level 22 Vanguard Strikes and each took about an hour and gave me 3 "Vanguard Marks" per run, which are what you need to craft legendary gear. I also did a level 20 strike that gave me 2 marks and only took about 20 min. It's tempting to just take the safe route in order to speed up the path to more legendary gear. I hope this changes a bit the further I progress because I can blast through the lower level strikes and get more marks than the harder strikes.
Bungie has captured their signature "30 seconds of fun" with this game. I haven't even started my sub class which is everything I've done all over with completely different abilities. Looking at it from a low level, I thought I was going to run out of content pretty quickly, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. There is a $#@! load of stuff to do. I haven't even touched multiplayer, and there are expansions coming. It's worth the purchase.
$#@! it, I bought it. I'm "Red Grenadine" on Xbox One. Let's shoot some $#@! this weekend.
Lol, you guys convinced me. Bought an xbox one off eBay and will have the game ASAP when it gets here next week.
Vin_113 on PS4. Have a lvl 11 Lock that seems pretty fun. Had some fun pugging a group quest last night and the multiplayer has been great (apart from the huge ass martian map - hate that one). Can't wait to grind some more and see what this game is all about.
Yes, the game is fun
Don't go in expecting one part Mass Effect, one part Boarderlands, one part Halo.
Just go in for the rock solid FPS gameplay and cool visuals. The rest, is gravy.
oh and if anyone wants the prima guide
what's the best class?
Anyone figure out how to kill the Vex Praetorian on Venus? It's either immune to or resists everything I attack it with, and I'm level 20.
I'm terrible about looking at the names of things I'm fighting. I know there are Captains and Witches and Eyeballs and Hobgoblins and Vex etc., but I couldn't tell you specifics names for any of them.

Just starting to play. I feel like I'm some odd Halo/Mass Effect/MMORPG Hybrid. It's kinda disconcerting
Dinklage as my person guilty spark is a nice touch
I had to switch the controls to make melee the right stick press. Wonder why they changed the layout from Halo
Just realized the game entirely requires Internet.
Hype extinguished. This is a sickening trend that needs axed, but will only continue to grow.
Requiring internet is in no way sickening. It's progress. Why should gaming cater to the poors? If you are somewhere that internet is impossible and can't wait until you have access to play then there is a lot bigger issue. The only scenario I can see internet access being an issue is if you are deployed overseas. Uphauling.

I'm not asking for a single-player campaign or bots. Just a simple training map would suffice. BF is the epitome of online FPS, and even it has a firing range. Diablo III and SimCity released online-only saw incredible backlash (and this was on PC where internet 'is' deemed standard). Console, however, is more limited. I remind you what happened when Sony was hacked and the PSN was down for a month. That $60 disk becomes a $#@!ty paperweight. Your access to your own game becomes limited because someone else can't keep they $#@! straight.
Idk, it's not about $, just about principle. In fact, it's probably the sole reason PS4 beat the $#@! out of XBone at launch. M$ claims internet is required, and everyone hops off their hype train and preorders a PS4.

I actually didn't realize the game was required to be always online... Thought it was just to enhance the "full" experience
