I think if we knock the OV out the park we'll keep Graham.
I think if we knock the OV out the park we'll keep Graham.
How does he get to 65%? That's ridiculous on its face
9.95'ers have numbers, big numbers...the best numbers. Yuuge

i realize this is the 2017 thread, but is it fairly normal to have this many 2018 offers going out during the 60ish days before NSD? between Charlie and Mack, we haven't exactly had a "normal" or typical recruiting philosophy...
JH on this week:
JH on Larrell Murchison:
as a reminder here is Murchison's 247 page: http://247sports.com/Player/Larrell-Murchison-46037806
currently has OVs scheduled to Texas on 1/13, U of H on 1/20 and Ole Miss on 1/27
he has 2 years of eligibility remaining
Scout Analysis on Murchison (from their Ole Miss site)
Murchison is bringing the fam? Let's do this.
Hopefully some of the coaches are going to swing by to see Chaisson.
here is Guidry's sparq rating card:
99th percentile in 40, 89th in vert, 99th in agility, 93rd in power ball
Also, 247's Director of Recruiting (Steve Wiltfong) put in a CB for Ryan Johnson (Alabama DL) for Auburn this AM. first CB that has been put in for him since EJ put his in October.
in 2016 he was the #1 most accurate CB guy, same for 2015 and 2014
guessing we see a good number more follow him today and tomorrow...so don't get too worked up about it
Johnson's OV schedule is:
Jan 14: Stanford
Jan 19: Texas
Jan 21: Auburn
Jan 28: Alabama

TFB Open Post: http://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.co...-january-12th/
In-Home Visits: The Texas staff will hit the road hard today as the dead period has ended. They’ll be all over seeing as many of their top targets as they can before they head back to Austin on Friday to get ready for the official visits.
– As I noted last night, Texas coaches will be visit Dodge City CC (KS) LB Gary Johnson.
Johnson was originally scheduled to visit Oregon this weekend but will instead visit Texas this weekend…
– Another big visit will be when Oscar Giles visits DE commit, Taquon Graham, as Texas looks to hold off late pushes from Oklahoma and TCU.
– Derek Warehime will see Westlake (TX) OT Stephan Zabie, who could be in line for a Texas offer in the near furute if everything checks out. He’ll also stay in Austin to visit Nebraska OL commit Brenden Jaimes, a guy Warehime has stayed in contact with.
– The DFW CBs Kobe Boyce and Chevin Calloway will be visited by the staff. Also the staff will visit OU WR commit Charleston Rambo and TCU WR commit Omar Manning.
– Expect to see Corby Meekins and Stan Drayton all over the Houston area as both of Drayton’s commits are from H-Town and Meekins is loved by all the HS coaches in Houston.
– The staff may stop in on some key 2018 recruits as well. One guy who may come away with an offer is Trinity (TX) DB Cam Jones, who said Coach Naivar will either visit him tomorrow or next week.
– Those are just a few of the visits. Expect to see the entire staff on the road checking in on commits and top targets. I’ll add more updates throughout the day. – (Andrew)
– Official Visit List: Texas will hold their first of three offiical visit weekends before NSD this weekend. Right now seven guys are scheduled to be town this weekend. If that changes we will keep you updated. Here is the list…
Chevin Calloway: He says he’s down to Arkansas, Texas, and Ole Miss but this is really a Longhorns-Razorbacks battle in my mind. He’s originally from Arkansas and has lots of family in the state so they will be hard to fend off. Though I will say that Arkansas had a huge lead when Tom Herman was hired, but that lead has shrunk over the last few weeks. I still feel that Arkansas leads but Texas will have a shot to put a big dent in that this weekend.
Grant Polley: After missing on OT targets in Walker Little and Chuck Filiaga, Colorado OT commit Grant Polley has become a top priority for Texas OL coach Derek Warehime. Texas is the only threat to Colorado to flip the Denton (TX) OT, and with some of the other Colorado commits from Texas wavering in their commitments, that can’t hurt the Longhorns with Polley as they will have their chance to wow him this weekend.
Larrell Murchison: A guy nobody has really been talking about in Louisburg College (NC) JUCO DT Larrell Murchison. He was offered by Ole Miss last week and committed the next day, and the Rebels are his only current offer. Though he did tell me other than the Texas visit this weekend, he will visit Houston next weekend, and Ole Miss on the weekend before NSD. So it sounds like the staff was recruiting him when they were at UH. As I had in my class breakdown post earlier this week, Texas will most likely take either, 0 or 1 DT in 2017.
Taquon Graham: Even though he’s committed to Texas, this could be the biggest official visitor for Tom Herman and company as Oklahoma and TCU are pushing very hard for him and he plans to visit both schools later this month. This will also be the first time Graham and his mother will have face to face time with HC Tom Herman. Expect to see Graham’s close friend and HS teammate WR Davion Curtis host him during the visit.
Kobe Boyce: You can bet this guy will be doing some recruiting for Texas this weekend with Chevin Calloway. Boyce has been committed to Texas since April and has no plans to visit any school but Texas.
Marqez Bimage: Texas’ latest commit in DE/LB Marqez Bimage. His plan before he committed was to visit Texas this weekend, and Baylor on the 20th but it doesn’t sound like that Baylor visit will happen.
Derek Kerstetter: After flipping from Oklahoma State to Texas on December 26th, he completely shut his recruitment down.
Toneil Carter: Not sure if this will 100% count as an official visit, but Texas commit RB Toneil Carter never took an official visit to Texas and is enrolling early and will move in this weekend and will arrive in Austin on Friday.
QB Sam Ehlinger and K Joshua Rowland will also be moving in this weekend. – (Andrew)
So whats the big thing this year? Last year Charlie brought us the football cake - what's Tom Herman bring to the OV party?
I've looked back through this thread and seen no mention of Rhett Lashlee leaving Auburn for UConn. Lashlee was instrumental in bringing Stidham to Auburn. I wonder if Stidham has already signed/is enrolled such that Malzahn was able to nudge Lashlee out the door at this point? If not, I wonder if he's back in play?

Was told #Texas DC Todd Orlando stopped by North Shore to see DE/OLB K'Lavon Chaisson (@WhosThatGuy4). Officially visits #LSU this weekend.
Is the official visit Bingo Card going to be making an appearance for the weekend?
Perceptually, Herman put together a staff of tireless recruiters from the top down. Very excited about the race to the finish and the prospect of 2018.
Stidham committed to the Tigers on Saturday. He has spent this semester at McLennan C.C. in Waco, Texas. 247Sports Keith Niebuhr reports Stidham will get on campus Dec. 19 and will start practicing with the team the next day.
At least they're recruiting related, so it's an improvement over discussing the value of a Stanford education or how much we hate an ex player.
Meachum ditching TCU before NSD hopefully helps us a bit with Manning...

Meachum was the WR coach. I think last year he was offered the North Texas HC job but he declined.
Also, Mehringer is visiting Omar Manning today. With Manning already using up his OV, this is critical if we want him on board.
per 247 he didn't do much recruiting, only listed as the secondary for Kenedy Snell (Committed) and George Ellis III (uncommitted)
Meachum needed another year with another QB to prove he wasn't a one hit wonder with Boykin. I think it's obvious neither $#@!bie or Meachum much like the CO-Coordinator tag, as both took interviews for different jobs in the off-season. Now Meachum gets to run the ship at KU, and if he's successful turning around that offense, he's going to get a lot of better offers than North Texas. If you are sure of your abilities, then going from TCU to KU to be the only OC on record, can pay off.
