Damn overcooked the sausage a bit.
It was tasty though. Lots of smoke slavor.

Some stores have started carrying Pan de Polvo and those little cookies are legit. Taste just like my Tia makes.
Maple bacon cornbread was meh. Made it per box directions though. Might give it a shot again with more egg and sour cream next time. I dunno, the little chewy bits of bacon were not very appetizing.
The Hill Country Fair sugar free caramel cream and peppermint hard candies are really good. The peppermint is better than any other peppermint hard candy I've ever tried except for Brach's, which is sweeter and more mouth-melting. But I prefer the HCF on most occasions because it doesn't melt as fast in the mouth and is better for palate cleansing and savoring for longer periods. The caramel cream is very nice. Not quite as tasty as Werther's, but not far off, and doesn't break into razor sharp mouth-ripping shards when you bite them. Tried the cinnamon but it's too damn hot for my taste.
And this, but in the Pepperjack variety, stays in my fridge for evening wrap snacks. Best tasting pre-smoked sausage I've had.
Just made one of the chicken tortilla soup kits. Easy and good. Perfect for a busy school night.
I can't recall the last time I ate pork rinds but one of my deer lease members brought these and they are excellent:
I can't find any pics but the gimp HEB is selling some of their Mexican store prepared meats. They've got chile colorado, chilorio, and others. $5 each. They're in the meat market.
Chilorio? Do want. Which one is the gimp HEB?
Allandale heb on burnet. I assume they're all available at their Mexican store up on far north Lamar. If you're making a hooker or crack run, you can swing by.
I thought that's the one you meant, thanks. Will swing by - that's not too far from me. Will try to ignore the fat Mexican grandma with a club foot vomiting in the corner of the store and the flies everywhere in the produce department. And all the poor people. It's worth it for chilorio.
For dinner last night I ate a "BBQ fixins" side, I forgot to take a pic before I took out the trash.
Green Beans, Tomatoes, and bacon. It was really good, sort of like okra and tomatoes without the slime. It was refrigerated, since it was on special, buy this and get this, I'm not sure where it actually is.
Good stuff though.

is it just me, or are the refried beans (black and pinto) that HEB sells in the bag by the prepared meats (the packaged barbacoa, pulled pork, chilorio, etc.) 1000 times better than the $#@! you get in the can?
or is it just because i'm kind of weirded out by the shape and consistency of the canned stuff?
i transferred both packages into glass jars and threw away the plastic bags they came in when i got home so i'm not sure if they're made by HEB and bagged up or just the same stuff put in HEB packaging. i love me some bean, cheese, and pickled jap tacos
Their True Grits frozen grits are outstanding
Beef & chicken fajitas don't dissapoint
The fresh guacamole and pico in the produce section are fantastic
The fresh squeezed OJ is awesome and bonus buy if the happen to make the fresh squeezed grapefruit, watermelon, cantaloupe or pineapple.
Bleu cheese burgers are great, too
I love the True Grits. I wish there were more flavors than the "loaded potato" ones though
Finally tried the Texas Ranch soup kit, that thing is $#@!ing delicious!
The market chorizo is really on point, just had a dinner of chorizo and egg tacos with the central market hatch green chili hot sauce (I believe already posted)
Luckily HEB at Blanco and 1604 in SA is open at the moment.
This is in the produce section adjacent to the diced onion, salsa, pico, etc.
any pics of the final product ?
HEB Cafe Ole coffee is damn good, beans, ground or K-cups.
I got some free HEB powdered creamer and HEB chocolate chip cookies free with HEB coffee single-cups the other day. The cookies are like Chips Ahoy, but better than Chips Ahoy. Haven't tried the creamer yet.
i agree, the heb kcups are solid
