what's your guys pokerstars balance, if that's not too personal? and also, what are your opinion of the site. i have played there a couple of years and have done fairly well there, and have liked the play there better than the two other sites ive played on, but lately i am hearing lots of grumblings that it's rigged or the program is off or whatever. usually these are from people that just suffered a bad beat. they blame the site everytime they lose. so i am not sure if their complaints hold water or not.
My understanding is that you can't play on pokerstars in the US. Are you somehow?
Regardless, there's lots of threads on 2p2 that discuss online poker being rigged. Some of it clearly was/is, but most of that speculation is just tinfoil-hat losers that cant accept that even perfect play will result in some losses by the very nature of the game.
I would venture that PS is not rigged, given its stature and position as a publicly listed company.
every online site ever, after every single 'bad beat' ever, someone types in chat "only on ____" or the equivalent. cheating is a legit concern. sites manipulating the algorithm isn't.
Please stop printing my money.
no, no cash. that would be illegal.
Playing online poker is legal in most states.
thats one concern, the second or underlying concern is how realistic is it? if you're good at pokerstars and winning consistenly, does that translate to doing well at a casino?
winning at play money generally doesn't transfer super well, because no one has incentive to fold. something that is important, in big-bet (meaning NL or PL games, not meaning high stakes) poker anyway, is placing your opponent in fear of losing all of their chips. Hard to do that, if the chips literally have zero value.
That said, being able to put opponents on hand ranges, making decisions properly based on those ranges and the odds offered, evaluating relative hand strength based on the board (i.e., middle set is way stronger on AJ863 with no flush than it is on QJT85 with 4 hearts, for an easy obvious example), etc., are all skills that you can develop at play money and that would increase your success in both play and real money games.
Add to that, live poker plays very differently than online. Speed is much slower, chip counts aren't as obvious, bet sizing isn't as dynamic (you can't bet $3.64 live), no one is multi-tabling, and of course you have a ton of visual feedback to read (and avoid sharing with others). I get a rush from live play that just can't be matched online
Aria is starting a "daily" $240 tourney every Friday and Saturday at 11am. Said its been getting > 100 runners so far.
Yeah I've been following that in Twitter and encouraging them to keep it. My favorite tourney but the pot needed to be bigger
How is the room at GN lake charles?
Played Saturday night out at Canterbury Park. Limit poker at its finest, and not huge stakes, but cleared enough to pay for dinner, drinks, and a tank of gas with a few bucks left over. It was a good night.
Played at a local O8/PLO game Friday night. First time I've played in about a month. I was at the end of the table and have had some bad allergies and very itchy eyes the last few days and was having a hard time reading the board.
I had AdQdxx, flop was 10d5d8x, bet out, get 4 callers, turn 8d. I bet again, 1 caller.
River 7d. I bet $100, other guy raises $200, I instantly go all in. It is at that point I notice the paired board and about $#@! myself.
Other guy mucks his hand, mumbles damn you must have the strait flush or bigger boat and folds.
I look down and my all in was for $80 more and the pot was about $800.
The guy was pissed and left a few hands later. Sometimes not knowing the board pays off.
OOORRR the other guy had T5 and was bluffin at the end
nope, he flashed his hand and had an 8 and 7 for the boat
jesus, he folded 3rd nuts there for $80? holy $#@!.
Misreading your hand or the board and still winning is never not funny. Early on when I stepped up to some 5/10NL at Bellagio I would reach for a stack of chips and not realize (or forget) they were double the amount I wanted to bet. Two times I just meant to call and I raised instead. I won both hands.
6th in the hand universe, 5th of the possible hands since he could exclude 8-8.
I started playing poker in late 2014, when I went to a (mandatory for me) charity poker tournament. I thought it was a lot of fun, and I figured if I'm going to play in that charity event I'd like to win it, or at least be respectable.
Now I'm a $#@!ing degenerate. I can't stop playing. I've watched hours and hours of poker. I have a journal to write down my thoughts and lessons learned. I bought a poker table and we have a game at my house every few weeks. I've turned down good pussy to play poker.

This was my New Year's Eve. Who the $#@! plays 4-8 suited? I do, because I was feelin' it, baby.
I've been playing a lot of heads up recently and doing fairly well. Decided I'd try a big $200 game to see how it translates.
There were two tables with a player sitting already. One was regular and the other was turbo. I decided turbo was better for a fish like me, so I bought in. Told the guy "gl", but the $#@! didn't return the favor.
First hand: I raise, he folds. Second hand: he folds. Third hand: I raise, he folds. Forth hand: he folds. Fifth hand: I raise, he folds. Sixth hand: he folds. It doesn't show him sitting out, but he's clearly not playing. I blind him down over about 100 hands. He wins a few allins at the end, but I take it down. Bot gone bad? Bought in and logged out forgetting about them? Who knows, but I'm $200 richer.
Then I see the guy waiting at the regular $200. Surely not? Yep. I'm now up $400.
Now I see there's someone on the turbo again. Common three in a row! I type "gl" and get a dreaded "u2" back. I actually had this guy on the ropes, up 2200 to 800, but he tightened it up then ruined me with TT>99 allin pre leaving me with just a few BBs and I quickly busted. I actually hope it was the same guy.
I'm now trying to blow the rest on the weekly $100k
Depends. Did you lose $400 that way yesterday?
