So with the current commits, we're back down to 10 players on scholarship with Taylor's for-sure departure, yes?
Roach, Davis, Mack, Cleare, Yancy, Young, Jones, Banks and Osetkowski. 9 unless I'm missing someone.
Osetkowski has to sit this year.
Looks like Allen has a top 3 of Us, UofH, and Kansas.
I'm an idiot.

Didnt see it posted.. so Jai staying? nice
Good for Jai. Should be good for the program. I mean, according to a meeting I had tonight with Coach Smart over a Yeti cooler discussing Chancellor McRaven. ;)
Seriously though, Lucas has a big upside. Sorry to Morrell.

Looks like Isaiah Taylor isn't going to even be invited to the combine. Kind of shocking.
I hate to judge kid's on their decision but no clue why Isaiah Taylor hired an agent.
I must admit I thought Taylor would easily get a combine invite. If an agent can't even get you an invite that's pretty bad.
If Taylor would have waited just a couple more weeks to hire an agent I bet he would be headed back to school.
We have the worst luck with these type players. It annoys me seeing former AAU coaches on Twitter telling players like Isaiah Taylor "it's your time".

This might be an unpopular opinion... but in my limited, dumbass opinion I'm okay with Taylor leaving. This may be that dumb homer sentiment but I just think it's time for new blood. I love Taylor and always will, like I do all former longhorns. But he needed to go. That "what have you done for me lately" logic is that he was focused on fouling that PG out against UNI and completely dominated the ball late in the second half. That hurt us.
As far as the season went, I know he was hurt and had a bad injury for a basketball player to have. And I know that he was more than likely our best option at PG for this season but he's a stalwart of the old regime. He had an inconsistent jumper. When he became ball dominant in games he wasn't the type of player to take over the games we needed him to.
Basketball is different from football but the situations of both programs are not very different. If we're assuming that turnaround with a basketball team is quicker than football then lets get Smart's players in here who can run his system for 3 years (1 n done's notwithstanding). Taylor was a very good PG for us in his tenure. But I'm 100% okay with moving forward with the new regime.
I won't go so far as to say that he'll never play in the NBA (Maurice Evans & PJ Tucker are 2 guys who beat similar odds), but he's gonna have to display a skill set that he hasn't shown in 3 years. He definitely has to develop at least a mid range stop and pop game like Teague if he has any hopes of taking advantage of his quickness and playing there.
Renewed my season tickets today. The countdown has already begun...

So the Mack transfer rumors have quieted then? That Isom article mentioned him as part of the team next year.
Well this was a nice surprise this morning
This news does not suck.
Man, it's going to be awesome finally beating Kansas and winning this conference....
(Ain't quite time yet, Snacks. Let's hang back)
USA B U18 scrimmages just began. Texas' Jarrett Allen with an impressive stretch. Protecting the rim, getting end to end & hit a 18-footer.
Texas freshman Jarrett Allen has reportedly barely played since Hoop Summit but he was best big in session 1. @usabasketball #USABMU18.

2016 Texas commits Jarrett Allen and James Banks going at it in the post. Shaka Smart has to be salivating would be lineups with either
Jarrett Allen made a lot of things happen. Good P-&-R D; showed mid-range J; attacked on offense off bounce and down low. #HookEm #USABMU18

texas 6-10 recruit jarrett allen led all scorers in u18 scrimmage with 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting.@BlueStarMedia1
Beautiful.. I figured how he is on a Tuesday night boring ass spc game would be different than the under18 usa practices.. Good to hear..
Love the fact that Shaka gets to spend some quality practice / game time with these two young guns via USA BB U18 before they hit the practice court in Austin... big plus
I like a guy who's excited to be here.
Can we please stop with the Lammert comments? He wasn't the best player we ever had, nor the worst. Some over defended him here, others over criticized him. But I think we can all agree that even though his skills might not have been world league, he never lacked for energy or trying. I never saw or heard him blow his own horn. I just find it disrepectful of a player who gave it everything to continue to lambast him or make his contribution seem less than it was. Neg away.
No Lambast Lammert? Got it.
Let's shift to starting to assemble the 2016-17 schedule from what we know...
