we are going to absolutely curb stomp Incarnate Word
Would also be nice to have a scorer like EDJ coming off the bench.
That All Access thing was BADASS! I stayed up until 4am watching that on DVR with a conference call this morning at 6:30...worth every minute of lost sleep...I couldn't turn it off.
Thank God that guy is our coach.
Real disappointed we aren't playing North Carolina. It's always nice to have a couple guaranteed nonconference wins on the schedule.
Can't wait to see this group of players play this season. Gonna be exciting and fast paced. Roach and Jones on the break are gonna be exciting to see. And I hope we get a lot more of the All Access stuff on the longhorn network. It was great TV. Hook 'Em!
As soon as we creep into the top 25 and/or Kerwin Roach reminds everyone of who the preeminent dunker is in college basketball, I have a feeling that Texas will be a lot of people's adopted "team I love to watch." For me that's been teams like Sparty, UNC, and Iowa State in recent years, and Texas will be that team for many CBB fans this year. Uptempo, fast breaks, full court press, with no shortage of athletes or shooters. We will be fun to watch, that is for sure. If we keep everyone (I could see Allen or Jones leaving early after this year, but that's about it), next year's team will not only be fun to watch but a likely final 4 contender as well. This is only the beginning...
I don't have ESPN Insider, so just a teaser:
I really really hope he stays a second year to get bigger, more acclimated to the college game, and to improve on his skill set and role before heading to the NBA. I've said from the beginning that I think he has plenty of work to do before he's NBA-ready (especially as a lottery pick), but his upside and athleticism are undeniable. And I suppose that in today's NBA that you no longer need to be a guy who is ready to contribute early on to be a top 10 pick. It's sort of the status quo now to overdraft if you're in love with potential, and lots of people are in love with his potential. As a fan of Texas basketball, I hope we get at least two years of him. He will be a very very good player 3-4 years from now.JARRETT ALLEN IS NO. 11 ON FIRST BIG BOARD
The Texas freshman averaged 10.6 points and nine rebounds while playing just 24 minutes per game in the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship. Chad Ford believes he could end up being the first center selected in the NBA draft. Ford's 2017 Big Board (Insider)
Hearing Texas could use Kendal Yancy as an undersized PF. 6-3 guard needs to be for Longhorns what JaQuon Parker was for Cincinnati in 2012.
I would not doubt this. I've been saying for a while that Shaka is fixing to go very small and run.
We just drew @Georgia in the SEC/Big12 Challenge. 1/28/17 3:00 cst

Alabama, Michigan, Arkansas, and Georgia; too bad this isn't a football schedule.
And Northwestern and Notre Dame. $#@!, that would be a helluva football schedule. Let's go independent!
When does our updated roster for hoops come out? I know the names, but if I know one thing-it's that recruiting services never seem to get within two inches either way of the incoming freshmen's real size (that's what she said).

Nice find. Hoping for a big year from tevin. I think he'll make a big jump in his game. Really talented player, just gotta take better shots and slash a little more
Mack has bulked up, wow.
Regents tacked on a 6th year to Smart's deal and brought him up from 2.9 million to 3.
I think that Drew Jones will be the freshman who makes the most noise out of the gate, but that Jarrett Allen, depending on where his offense is, will be the most talked about freshman we have midway through conference play. Jones is a star in the making, and if he's here more than two years I'll be shocked. Allen's length is going to cause serious problems, and he will have multiple games with 5+ blocks this season. I think both have similar ceilings, but I think the fact that Allen has much more room to grow is what's going to have him being talked about towards the end of the season as he hopefully gets better and better.
Just saw that Shaka got an extension and 100k raise.
My first thought: Thats still not enough.
PAY THIS MAN! HE DOES NOT LEAVE THIS CITY!
That's awesome. I didn't realize they worked out with the football team.
Shaq Cleare looks like a football player haha
Damn. Lock these coaches up. Not to get all racial or anything, but given UT's relatively late arrival to the table regarding black athletes, along with the deplorable race relations surfacing across the country these days, I am beyond excited to see where 2 badass coaches (and badass-er men) who happen to be black will take our biggest programs, both athletically and in terms of setting a cultural standard. These guys are the cream of the crop when everything is considered. Pay them accordingly.
I could have sworn the 2016-2017 roster was up on texassports.com but I only see 2015-2016 right now.
Admission is free, but tickets must be claimed online in advance at TexasSports.com/Tickets. Current University of Texas students and current men’s basketball season ticket holders will be given priority to the limited tickets. Access to claim the free tickets opens Thursday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.
We're gonna be pretty good. That's my prediction. Can't wait to see the new freshmen plus Roach and Davis will be fun to watch again.
I'm pretty sure I get full credit for the football team tanking. I also wash my car just before it rains.
opening night for Longhorn hoops is just one month away (Nov. 11th, ICWU). Just looking for a bright spot in an otherwise $#@!tastic week for Longhorn football. If these newcomer big men can play well for Coach Smart, we could be looking at a deep tourney run. That's all I got. And I predict we go 1-3 in football AFTER basketball season starts.
I can't wait to see Andrew Jones and Jarett Allen. Haven't seen 'em play yet but by all accounts, these are 2 extremely talented young players.
Jones is for real. He should have a more all-around impact than Allen, especially early on. Tall, athletic, offensively gifted; could be a future lottery pick. Allen is going to thrive here as well though.though. He's still not what I'm afraid most people are expecting him to be (AD or KAT), but the defense and the athleticism are real. He's going to block a ton of shots, he's going to run the floor, he's going to get dunks, and hopefully he will stick around long enough to be able to score consistently from outside the paint. Still, even with his offensive limitations his presence will be felt. I'd set the over/under at total years in campus for the two of them at 3.5, meaning if they both stay and complete their sophomore years the over hits. Here's to hoping it does.
Most curious how Smart's influence and high energy will affect Allen.
