When he holes out on 18, does his ball go down a pipe back to the clubhouse?

Bubba could hit a $#@!ing rock a mile; might as well get paid doing it.

I'm kinda surprised that Loudmouth hasn't stepped up to sponsor Bubba - that would be awesome awful.

Volvik balls are the official long drive championship balls, yes? There was a drive of 474 and 475 using these. The winning drive was a pathetic 446 yards using Volvik.

So what kind of game are we going to play with Kapalua? Pick winner? Lowest combined scores of 3 players? Worst finish?

Why not both, errrr all 3.

    Winner
Day (because Spieth is likely the obv board fav & I want some separation/differentiation)

    pick 3
    Day, Matsuyama, DJ

    Last place
Stuard (local kid from up here, but not a big hitter)

Friend of mine used to work for Volvik. Quick search of their website shows a bunch of LPGA pros from Korea using their stuff. And Craig Stadler.

    Pick 3: Spieth, Matsuyama, Reed

    Last: Greg Chalmers

Not PGA specifically but sad story popped up today regarding former Euro tour player Wayne Westner. Apparently shot himself after standoff holding wife hostage.

Through 7 holes Gribble leads the field ...... in birdies, and is tied for the lead with most bogeys

3 birdies & 2 bogeys - LOL, I love small field events where you can figure $#@! like that out.

Cody grew up in HP but I don't think he has any brothers, and his dad's name is Bill. Maybe a cousin or uncle?

I'm wondering if maybe Bill might be Kyles brother or something. There has to be some relation, how many Gribbles are from HP? Kyle went to UT and graduated in 1982

I'll check with one of the other LCC members who knows the Gribbles. I've only met Cody once, a couple of weeks ago. Nice young man with a very bright future.

John Daly and the vertical driver. Interesting article:

'Long' John Daly Signs On To Play New Driver Like None You've Seen In Golf

John Daly has a funky new driver to pair with his outlandish outfits on the golf course.

Never shy about going against the norm in the golf world, Daly for the next several seasons will be playing a unique new driver with vertical grooves on the club face -- the only model of its kind on the market. The two-time major champion and one of the sport's most prodigious drivers signed a multiyear deal with Vertical Groove Golf, LLC, and will serve as a global ambassador for the company, wearing the company's logo on his shirt collar and on his golf bag as he plays on the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and other professional tournaments.

The nontraditional grooves on the Vertical Groove Driver are designed to reduce side spin at impact and help improve accuracy. Testing performed by the company found the technology leads to 40% straighter ball flight on average and Daly says he's been hitting more fairways since putting the driver in his bag.

Daly won the 1991 PGA Championship and the 1995 British Open, but may be best known for his unconventional personality (particularly in the traditional world of golf) and his long drives. "Long" John Daly led the PGA Tour in driving distance 11 times from 1991 through 2002 and was the first golfer to average more than 300 yards off the tee in a season. He was also the longest driver on the senior tour in his debut season in 2016, averaging 303.6 yards off the tee, but ranked just 74th in accuracy (hitting 57% of fairways).

Jeff Barry, the CEO of Vertical Groove Golf, said Daly's use of the USGA conforming vertical groove driver is "strong validation that this club performs at the highest level." The suggested retail price of the 450cc driver, which comes in 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts and is 45.75 inches in length, is $399.99.

"This is an exciting time for Vertical Groove Golf, and itís only fitting that John Daly leads our stable of endorsees," Barry added.

unfortunately he gave on back with a bogie on 11, and is tied with JS at -1
