Yeah, but Schilling has decided to be an outspoken lightning rod on various issues, including political, after retirement. Like it or not (and I don't because I don't think it should have a bearing), some voters are going to hold that against him.
Ellis Burks is from everman. True story.
Bagwell and pudge means there could be a rangers/astros slapfest in cooperstown
Pudge ain't getting in first ballot. It will settle around 65-70 percent for him and he will sail in between 80-85 next year.
Lidge should go in with an Astros hat. Makes almost as much sense as Nolan wearing a Rangers hat.
Going out on a limb and assuming you mean pudge and not lidge
I hope Vlad gets in. no stink at all of steroids. dude was a monster at the plate. he "only" played 15 years. all the juicers extended their careers. he could be this generations Jim Rice.
I'm on the fence on bagwell but I think he should be in. he has the same type of steroid rumors as pudge.
If we are going to start letting in definite steroid guys. I'd go with Bonds and Clemens but Sosa, McGwire are no go's.
not a fan of guys who mainly played DH and Relievers
one more for Tim Raines. can we get an Expo hat in the HOF?
Jim rice, huh. Who'd he play for again?
Kidding. After perusing his bio, I'm wondering why it took him 15 years to make it.

surly with the media but didn't make the magical 400 HR mark guys(OF,1B,etc) of his vintage generally needed. the only others of his time or before, that hit 400HR's, that haven't made it are Darrell Evans and Dave Kingman.
by the time he was eligible the voters were seeing that 400 HR's wasn't going to be a big deal in the future.
funny thing is if he would have played one more year hit 18 HR's and had a career batting average 2 points higher he probably gets in within the first 2 to 3 years.
Pudge is going in this year and with a Rangers cap. 13 seasons with the Rangers and works for them now. To think he would go with a Tigers or Florida cap is ridiculous.
Legend.“I was a painfully shy kid,” Aubrey Huff said, stopping as he sensed disbelief. “No, really, I was.”…
…So who brought him out of his shell?
“That guy,” Huff said, pointing across the Giants clubhouse to Pat Burrell, his one-time teammate at the University of Miami.
“When I transferred, the first guy I met was that son of a “…” Huff said. “I hadn’t met such an arrogant (jerk) in my life. I couldn’t stand him. All he did was rag on me.”
You knew Huff’s next story about Burrell would be good. He prefaced it by saying, “Awww, I’m sure Pat won’t care if I tell this.”
“After two weeks at Miami, I wanted to go home,” Huff said. “So my mom flies out, trying to convince me to stay. I was living with two seniors, and they ragged me, too. I just didn’t understand all this baseball ragging nonsense. She’s in my room one night and I’m sitting on my bed and she’s telling me to give it another two weeks.
“Anyway, there’s a knock on the door, and before I can even get off the bed, Pat comes barging in with a six-pack in his hand, dripping wet, buck naked.
“So I jumped up and shut the door. Coming from Texas, these things didn’t happen. I said, ‘See what I’m dealing with here, Mom?’
“She just started laughing and said, ‘Actually, Aubrey, that’s pretty darn funny.’
“I thought, ‘My God, if my mom can laugh at this, why can’t I?'”…
As the details of Huff’s story were recited back to him recently, Burrell just closed his eyes and nodded.
“Yeah, that’s pretty much how it happened,” he said. “I was looking for the shampoo. There wasn’t any in the shower. Obviously, I didn’t know his mom was in there.”
“I don’t know how the six-pack got in my hands.”
Ok so Bagwell is on 93% of the public ballots. That will go down as the people who don't publicize their ballots tend to not vote for near as many people, but it got me thinking...
What's the record for highest percentage to elect a HOF who has been on the ballot 5 times or more? It'd be pretty amazing if Bagwell, on his 7th trip through the process, got elected with ~90% of the ballot. Incredible. And well deserved. He should have been a no doubt about it HOF inductee. I'd have no real complaint if it was second ballot as opposed to first, as while I think it's stupid to make a distinction between 1st ballot and 2nd ballot HOF I know it's a thing for people and I'm not going to waste my time or energy railing against all that's stupid in the world, but the fact that he's taken 7 tries to get in is absurd. It'd be cool if he was 90% when he finally did get in.
Amazing story about Vlad from ESPN.com:http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/p...nd-his-numbers
Also, this:“Before an at-bat, he would just start going through the bat rack, and he would pick them up, feel them, look at the name on the bat, raise his eyebrows and nod,” Santangelo said. “One at-bat, he’d use Darrin Fletcher bat. The next one he’d use David Segui's. The next one, he’d use Mike Lansing. He would grab whatever bat, ask if he could use it, and just go up there and swing at anything.
“We would say daily, 'How the f--- did he do that?' The guy went up, saw [the ball], swung and did damage.”
Thanks for that link, bv. What a fun read. Hope he gets in at some point. When your peers talk about you like that, you are a HOF player.
Melvin Mora was robbed.
I see 4 of the best players I've ever seen play the game. None of them has as X.
Delete ballot, ban voter
If you're ignoring PEDs and putting roger and bonds in, don't you kind of have to include Sosa as a 600 hr guy?
