I buy a bunch of bags of these from HEB (when its open). Stir fry with a little bit of oil and some hot curry powder (salt to taste) and add chopped protein or your choice. I portion them into tupperware containers and thats what I eat for lunch for the week.

The Myfitnesspal app doesn't have a way to input a Crossfit workout so I'm assuming you guys that use it input your exercise manually?

Yea that was me for sure. 8 beers was a nightly thing for me. I did get carried away and drink an entire bottle of bourbon and 6 beers last weekend though. Drinking less was pretty easy for me. Go from a case to a 6 pack lol

Nah, they just tell everyone about it so it gets recorded on the social register. (burn!)

I have lost ~70 lbs since August 4. I had lost 75, but then the holidays happened.

I need to seriously lose at least another 100, and that would put me at a weight that some of y'all are probably starting at. I was FAT.

I'm with Austin Diagnostic Clinic. I see the doctor each week and weigh in. There's an hour long class afterward. The class is boring, but it's more of an accountability thing. The diet has been around since the 80s. It can be pricey. They provide all of your food (as long as you don't stray from the diet like I have). Meal replacement shakes are the core of the program. But they also have oatmeal, granola-like bars, and an assortment of entrees. It's a low calorie plan, but I don't get hungry on it.

If I'm strict and only eat their food, I can lose up to 5 lbs a week. It's a new year, so I'm going to get back on the diet at least 90% of the time. BBQ is my downfall.

Possibly. I've tried before. BBQ turns into eating the bread and sauce and cheese, etc. Certain foods are triggers for me. I am now a believer that I have a food addiction. I denied it for years, but it's pretty obvious now.

My addiction isn't as bad as those folks on My 600lb Life, and I don't eat like that. But I still struggle with it. I am practicing better decision-making on this program.

Best of luck fellas. Gotta make some changes as well, particularly if we're gonna have a second munchkin. My diet is decent, but I need to move around a helluva lot more than I do and cut back on alcohol, particularly at weeknight events. some great tips in this thread and motivation.

Would like to hear from some of you who have a very erratic schedule. Obviously there's always time in the day to do some walking and take a pass on $#@!ty food out/booze. There are weeks when I'm at home for almost every meal and the wife can make something healthy and I can hit the 40+ swim class and not drink. But then there are fortnight-stretches where I'm gone from the house from 7:00a-11:00p (and all away from the office/house where there's no kitchen/fridge/health bar stash) and there's no time to exercise (well there is, but sure as $#@! no time to get my sweaty ass cleaned up). And all there is to eat is $#@!ty event/conference/reception food and tempting drinks. I think it's actually easier when you're traveling because most of my travel agenda always has built-in breaks to walk around the city, pause and have a slow healthy meal, have a day off from client $#@! and drinking. But it's those days here at home where it's go-go-go from dawn to nearly midnight. I'm eating crap in my car, not moving except to walk from the parking garage to the next meeting, and flowing booze from happy hour to bedtime. I gotta get around that $#@! and find myself a niche.

My first weigh in was 184 lbs...and then I won't weigh myself for a month...for me right now it's about the habit not the weight loss...I started working out Dec 31st...so 4 out of the last 5 days...

I couldn't do what some of you do, making a big batch of food and eat the same thing every day. I need variety. Maybe I'll just supplement my diet with laxatives and $#@! myself thin.

It's miserable Bruin but worth it. I did it for 5 months last year and it $#@!ing showed. Best shape of my life even better than 21 in the military. I miss it but I don't think I could do it again. I love food way too much

Go with psyllium instead. High fiber does all sorts of wonders for you.

I ended up jumping in with a ideal protein knock off. I bought a bunch of shakes and bars from costco and am using them as meal replacement for breakfast and lunch. Protein and veggies with dinner. I cheat with a slice or two of turkey or a boiled egg if I am getting grumpy. And I don't get anal about measuring my veggies. If I eat 3 cups of $#@!ing celery so be it. I'll tighten up as my body adjusts. More importantly, I track everything i eat in a spreadsheet to have some accountability and I weigh myself daily and track in the sheet. Oh, and zero alcohol. I want to drop 15% bodyweight. I've already flushed a bunch of water weight dumping glycogen stores in only a few days.

Have you people never been to a real BBQ meat market? You can buy cheese at Kreuz, Smitty's, Black's, City Market, Cooper's. Hell, even Rudy's sells it.

6'2". Went from 228 to 188 in 2016 in two months. Quit booze and any sugary drinks, and stopped eating between meals. Drank only water. Empty beverage calories really add up.

I packed on some pounds after throwing out my back, having a $#@!ty pisspants attitude and not exercising at all because I was mad I couldn't run because of my back and eating like $#@!/drinking too much due to the fact I was travelling for work more than normal. I'm making steady progress back to where I was prior to $#@!ing up my back and I've only made a few simple changes.

    1. Eat in a non-stupid way far more often than not. If you don't do this nothing else you do will matter.
    2. Get some exercise. Some things are more effective than others but the best thing is the thing you will stick with and do on a consistent basis.
    3. Get enough sleep.

I'm about to start a simple workout with just bodyweight exercises. I probably will need surgery on my shoulder(s) eventually, and my right big toe joint is extremely painful due to a past dislocation anytime I strain it. Pushup form and/or jumping can be hell if I'm not very careful.

I'm going to do some other things like squats, lunges, modified pushups for now, crunches, leg lifts, etc. Aiming for 3 each of upper body, lower body, and ab exercises.

I have a DeskCycle that I'm going to get back to using at work. I can do about 45 miles in 2.5 hours each day. Then I will do some walking before or after work.

If I were to compare hot yoga to anything, it would be making chicken fried steak. From the point of view of the steak.

I am. I realize Crossfit is poo pooed around here but I like it for the most part because I know my limits and way around the gym.
I've bookmarked the thread on the monitors so I'm trying to figure out the best one for me. I like Polar for its accuracy.

This not drinking thing is kinda sucking ass. I did not sleep for $#@! last night. It took me hours to get to sleep and when I finally did I was up again and again. Good thing I work from home and the kids are going back to school today. Cranky has me at 11 this morning.

That's typical for someone who normally goes to bed after 6 beers. Instead of drinking myself to sleep I'll take the dog for a long walk around 10 pm. That really helps calm the brain down for a good nights sleep.

Try melatonin and a book/magazine in low soft light.

I picked up a lava lamp. It's my ritual to flip that thing on and pass out watching the patterns on the ceiling.

Interesting stuff ... I'm DEFINITELY feeling the sugar cravings after cutting out the alcohol. I really don't have any desire to drink, although I sometimes miss the physical parts. I'm just used to having a beer in the evenings. It's not the beer I want, it's the can. Strange. But lord, the sugar cravings. Totally natural, I know, and I don't beat myself up over the handful of M&Ms that I grab, but $#@! is real :).

Haaahahaha $#@!in' awesome. Just weighed myself, 199.5. The funny part is I weighed myself before the morning deuce, 200.7. 1.2Lb morning constitutional.

It's been manageable. I probably only had 10 M&Ms last night, spread out between post-dinner time and bedtime. I do have a big bag of mixed nuts (insert your joke here) that'll probably be a go-to, as well as some pre-made guac that for whatever reason seems to help me. Dip that w/some carrots.

You drinkers, if you were big on beer in the evening, grab some Le Croix. I find the Berry flavor pretty $#@!ing good. I just down a few of those during the evening and the effervescence? satisfies my crave to drink beer.

Also, if you have sweet cravings, buy some trident or orbitz gum and chew on it, I find it takes care of any real cravings so I dont eat a bunch of junk.
