Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
General Motors is sending Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze to U.S. car dealers-tax free across border. Make in U.S.A.or pay big border tax!
Finally, a President willing to threaten companies with more taxes.
Pace yourselves guys. He ain't even sworn in yet.
Oh, and the Cruze sedans sold in the US are made here, and the ones made in Mexico are mostly for the international/non-US market.
But Trump should never let the full facts get in his way.General Motors manufacturers the Chevrolet Cruze sedan in Lordstown, Ohio. All Chevrolet Cruze sedans sold in the U.S. are built in GM’s assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.
I love that he will continue tweeting after he takes office.
Tax policy should be used to encourage desired behavior by corporations. Should be carrot and stick, of course, but I never understood why our govt should be for "free" trade with countries who have none of the worker and environmental protections we have that contribute to a good bit of the discrepancy between the cost of imported vs domestically produced goods
So with Kelly headed to NBC, does FNC bring in Tomi Lahren?
Congress won't do $#@! about it.
I would like to believe otherwise, but I live in Texas. The GOP, with the help of Rudy Giuliani and a Spanish consortium, damn near made it easier to move goods from China and Mexico through Texas onto the rest of the US and Canada. Ricky Bobby is still probably angry about that.
2. All Chevy Trax sold in the US are made in Mexico. Maybe he got the nameplate wrong
I wonder if he is going to roll back some of the emissions/mileage "rules" that Obama decreed during his presidency. That itself would save consumers hundreds if not thousands of dollars per vehicle.
But that's beside the point. Trump can't tear up NAFTA.
How dare you imply that Trump would get something confused and then post it on twitter!2. All Chevy Trax sold in the US are made in Mexico. Maybe he got the nameplate wrong
$#@!ing love these announcements coming out before that thin skinned, American hating, socialist, hypocrite in chief, can get out of the White House. You just know it is killing him that these last days were not his fond farewell tour and a weepy eyed look back on all the great things he did not accomplish.
Dreams for Success Dashed by Trump's Rhetoric
For 14-year-old Antonio, Ford factory was a way to save his grandmother
By Haywood J. Blowme
The Washington Post
SAN LUIS POTOSí, Mexico -- Late Tuesday afternoon, as the sun was settling into its nesting point between the highest peaks of the Largos Montanas to the West, 14-year-old Antonio de la Vargas was kicking a half-inflated soccer ball across the field near his single-room shanty.
It's across this open field that Antonio's two dreams for his future blend into one. The first -- a longshot -- was that he could one day be a professional futbol star, perhaps even playing with his heroes on the Chivas A.C. squad. The second -- the more realistic one until this morning, was that Antonio could finish high school in time to be among the first 700 employees hired to work at the Ford Motor Co. plant set to open in 2018 on the very field where he has grown up kicking his ball.
"Mis dos suenos" -- My two dreams -- Antonio calls them, all have one end goal: to be able to support his grandmother who has raised him since he was 3, perhaps even paying for the kidney transplant she needs to escape her thrice-weekly dialysis appointments that she reaches by sitting on a non-climate controlled bus for 80 miles each way.
Tuesday evening, that dream vanished like the sun setting over the mountain range. Caving to pressure from President-elect Donald Trump -- who strong-armed the Ford Motor Co. into scrapping plans for a $1.7 billion factory to provide jobs and economic opportunity that this rural community so desperately needs -- the automaker announced it would instead be building the plant in Michigan.
"I only want to help mi abuela," said Antonio, who now questions whether or not he will continue to attend the overcrowded, two-room school in which one teacher tries to educate 62 children, ranging in age from 3 to 18. "But I might be better off doing that by paying a coyote to take me into El Norte or by joining a cartel as a courier."
Smuggling drugs was something he promised his abuela he would never do, but given the current anti-Hispanic climate being fueled in the U.S. by Trump's supporters, Antonio believes he would be safer doing that than trying to immigrate into America.
"The words, the hate from Donald Trump -- it is only going to get worse," he says, wiping a tear from his right cheek. "I could go try to work construction in America, but my grandmother asks if it is worth being lynched for having brown skin just to try to get her a kidney."
Blah, blah, blah, you know the rest, the liberal media story writes itself.

When is Trump gonna start publicly ripping all of the corporations (Apple, etc.) that make Irish tax inversions while they were legal? I hope that is on his radar.
I assumed that was a joke. It's not real right. It's like djt tweets. Nothing would really surprise me.
Bill And Hillary Clinton Will Attend Trump's Inauguration
The hits just keep on coming for Donald Trump, who not only scored several high profile wins today just by tweeting, when first Ford cancelled a Mexico expansion plan after Trump scolded GM for a similar transgression, followed by House Republicans undoing their proposal to strip the Ethics Office of its independence, culminating with the Senate announcing it has begun the process of repealing Obamacare, the next big thing on the agenda is who will be present at the Trump inauguration on Jan. 20.
And while we learned earlier today that both George W, Bush and his wife would attend the Trump inauguration, with a Bush spokesman saying that the couple is "pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power — a hallmark of American democracy — and swearing-in of President Trump and Vice President [Mike] Pence," it was the far more unexpected news that the Clintons would also partake in the festivities.
As NY Mag first reported, "Bill and Hillary Clinton have decided to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States, according to two sources with knowledge of their plans. The Clintons will join former Presidents George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter, who have also announced that they will attend. George and Laura Bush said today that they would be present “to witness the peaceful transfer of power.”
New York adds that over the past few weeks Hillary Clinton discussed with trusted advisers and friends whether or not she should attend the inaugural.
"She and President Clinton, the sources said, decided to do so out of a sense of duty and respect for the American democratic process."
With the Clintons joining the inauguration, President George H.W. Bush is the only living president who won’t attend, due to health reasons the Hill reports.Josh Haskell
Aides to Bill and Hillary Clinton tell @ABCPolitics that they will attend @realDonaldTrump inauguration on January 20th

So does this mean that the animosity between the political elites is over?
And along those lines - with the crazy emotional reactions we have seen in public of so many elitist Trump-haters, it is easy to image some of them being nutso enough to conspire to carry out Rosie O'Donnell's wishes..
who is "Joey No Socks" and what kind of gangster nickname is that? Little better than "Snotboogie" imo
Besides, Congress has their own agenda - winning their next election. That is all they care about.
There's not a lot you can do about automation.
And look at things like GM and that hatchback that Trump is bitching about - if Donald could magically grant himself the power to impose some big tariff on GM over those cars coming from Mexico, that would probably kill what little profit margin there is for GM, which means GM wouldn't bother selling them here. And that hatchback is not alone - it's staggering how many car models are not sold in the US for various reasons (none of which have anything to do with who's in the White House).
Dems are going to have to reboot their party, because a big chunk of their donors/supporters are simply not going to have jobs, either because of automation, or jobs being shipped overseas. If you don't have a job, and don't have money to donate to them, they don't give a $#@! about you unless they need your vote, and even then they'll do the bare minimum (look at Hillary snubbing Michigan, etc. because she thought she had those won).
