Some have estimated it will cost $12B. What happened to your small government? What happened to your cutting spending? Empty promises. Hope and change and all that. If you like your small government, you can keep your small government.

In addition, the $600M we've spent on the fence has done nothing to reduce drug use in America. nothing to reduce the wealth of the drug dealers or cartel violence. so a smart man would at least consider what you are getting for the money. secondly, we have more border patrol agents now than we did before the fence. no savings in building it. will the Donald be able to lay off agents to help offset this wall of his? no. no reduced payroll, no smaller government. thirdly, it is ugly and nobody wants it. landowners don't want it on their land and don't want to sell to the feds. many landowners down there know migrants are coming across their land and even leave water out for them. they don't call ins when they see migrants on their land. fourthly, it's beautiful land (if you think deserts can be beautiful, which I do), and the wall, besides being unsightly, will hinder animal migrations. Fifth and foremost, the drugs are not coming across the land. the drugs, and migrants, are driving right across the bridge. driving right past the noses of border patrol agents every day. homeland security estimates that they intercept 10% of the loads. so if we capture $300K worth of drugs, or US dollars heading south, $3M is getting through. if you want to increase spending, spend more on bridges, dogs, and agents. you know, like a jobs program. lets not rely on instinct to determine if we should scan this car or that. lets scan every car.

trump sold the wall to the gullible morons in the Midwest, old people that think terrorists are swimming the river and walking across the desert. its a stupid and expensive and will help in no way, and I believe congress will be smart enough to see this. just like they are learning to realize they cant repeal Obamacare without a similar, and likely just as costly, a health plan. we'll just call it trumpcare instead, but make no mistake, it's really still Obamacare.

Some have estimated it will cost $12B.
So with the rising cost of education, health care, housing, food, etc., it will pay for itself within five years.

The complexities of illegal immigration continues. One new estimate places the annual cost for state governments to educate unaccompanied minor immigrants at $761,405,907 a year - this according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a non-profit interest group which based its findings on federal data. Tax-payer funded classes conducted in Spanish or indigenous languages from Central America, plus free or reduced cost school meals contribute to the cost.

How many youngsters are here now? The exact number is 37,472 - resettled in all 50 states with wide disparity, the researchers found. Montana, for example, was sent one child, costing the state $18,630. Texas took in the most: 5,280 children, at a projected cost of $78 million a year. But New York has the biggest bill. The Empire State is now the home of 4,244 youngsters, who will cost the state an extra $148 million.

Meanwhile, an analysis of Census data by the Pew Research Center finds that the population of illegal immigrants has stabilized and ‘leveled off’ at an estimated 11.3 million. Sixty one percent of that population has been in the U.S. for 10 years or more, 16 percent less than five years, the report found.

Why are Putin and Trump so cozy ? Trump lashes out at everybody, it's ingrained in his character. But he's never said a bad word about the man who crushed his nation's democracy, free press, and all political opposition. It's weird. It's suspicious.

Perhaps the most significant revelations from Trump's refusal to disclose his tax returns relate to his financial links to Putin's Russia.

Trump refusing to disclose his taxes and the people buying that is just asking for it.

Oh good. So you saw the part where they referenced an entire annex of material on RT from 2012 as evidence of the Russian influence campaign in the 2016 election. For those who still believe that the debate over Russia "hacking" the election is not politically driven it is enlightening.

    Donald Trump 2017

It's worth reading since it represents the only unfiltered publicly available primary source material. It's also a waste of time since it offers zero in terms of methodology or support for any of its assessments. In fact, most of the supporting material provided is related to media influence not cyber hacking the election, and further, that material actually predates the election. If that's what passes for hacking the election, there is a long line of domestics actors who also hacked the election through media influence of public opinion. The same folks crying about Russian influencing public opinion now in fact. Maybe the reality is that they're just jealous.

It's a phrase used by the media, many democrats, some republicans, and an assortment of other buffoons because it is vague and has the effect of projecting from what actually occurred to implied activities that didn't occur but some people would like to believe did.

What was hacked was the intellectual honesty of the MSM and the Dem party sprinkled with some doltish R's

    This, but I would add...

... it distracts from the profound incompetence of the loser's campaign and absolves all of the same talking heads and party elites from any responsibility for being really bad at their jobs.

I don't care about any of that, and If you want to talk about it I'm sure FC Horn and Rocko will be happy to, but my only interest in this is the security and national interest of the United States.

Good news then, because the Trump win has apparently lit a fire under the asses of many politicians that previously didn't care so much about your interests...whereas they'ed be absolutely unconcerned with the "hacking" issue as they have been for the last couple of decades if HRC had won. But then again, not so good news, because they're really not as concerned as the Trump induced drama indicates.

As crazy as it sounds, I'm going to try and lay my opinion out there.
    1) Hillary was a terrible candidate.
    2) Trump was a terrible candidate, too.
    3) Hillary lost even though the media and Hollywood were shilling for her non-freaking-stop.
    4) Trump won, perhaps due to influence from Russia and Putin.

Can we return to the question of why did Putin want Trump to win?

For your question, there would seem to only be one or two answer:
    - Hillary would have been bad for Russia
    - trump is good for Russia

Now given the first answer is moot now, why is trump good for Russia and is that good for the US.

    Here's my take
    1) Hillary was the worst Democratic nominee of all time
    2) Trump was actually a pretty good candidate
    3) The media did exactly what Trump thought they would do, which supported his campaign by covering his personality flaws and severely damaged Clinton by mainly covering her quite substantial scandal problems and personality shortcomings. Editorial perspectives and celebrity preferences don't matter.
    4) Russia had no influence on the outcome of the election, but has managed to undermine American democracy and shift public opinion through social media propaganda efforts.

Think Trump wasn't as bad of a candidate the media protrayed but was far from "good"

All done to delegitimize the election of Donald Trump.

Anyone who loses the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by 3 million is not a good candidate.

Russia showed the world their undying commitment to wiping out Islamic terror when they strategically allowed ISIS to retake Palmyra. Putin has outfoxed the ragheads and now has those child molester worshipping rope sucker slayers right where he wants them.

He was a great candidate. He won. That's the only goal of a candidate. I can't think of a single winner who was a bad candidate. On the flip side, only a handful of losers could be considered "good" candidates. Romney and Gore perhaps. Nixon as well. Hillary was a terrible candidate, both times. Any run of the mill dem could have won her states while putting forth a better gotv in battlegrounds. They also would have beaten her in the primary. Whoever decided that everyone but Hillary should sit this one out should be fired.

Trump will likely be a horrible President though.

Correct, Armybrat. It has been demonstrated empirically that liberals have a lower IQ on average than conservatives.
