Doing it at work, but my office doesn't restrict access to websites. Will try clearing cache. Just downloaded the ticketmaster app. I've bought tickets from them before many times.

so apparently Ticketmaster restricts access from specific commercial accounts with too many active users. I don't speak geek, but that's what I gathered from our IT guy. I'll just have to purchase from home in the morning.

Got 106 row D in Houston. Should be a good location. Giving up the floor due to my 9 year old going this time. He has been waiting for a good long time to see U2 live.

Stats, pepper, care to share what you paid?

Do we need to have ticket master accounts pre-registered to expedite? Don't want to lose tix because I haven't signed in, pre-loaded cc info, etc.

It would definitely help. There was one point where the countdown started at 3 minutes or so. After a couple of steps it went to ~6 minutes though.

Mine started with u2JTB, indicating I needed to wait until tomorrow. But it worked for me today. Give it a try.

Saw them in '83 at South Park Meadows. Friend and I watched the weather report and knew a cold front was going to hit so we wore jeans, sweat shirts, jackets, etc.

The front blew in towards the end of the Alarm’s opening set and by the time U2 came on it was so cold that everyone that showed up in shorts and t-shirts had left. We slid way down front for a great show.

Same here. Not paying $600-1200 for any concert. Will try GA tomorrow.

285 per plus ticketmaster extortion of 43 per ticket. absurd on the fees.

Got 4 Red Zone tickets for the Washington D.C. Concert. Crazy expensive. However, it's pretty damn cool to see them when I was at the age of 17 and now 30 years later take my kids to see them. My oldest son is now 17, so to me it's worth it.

Plus a family vacation to D.C. Should be fun.

Hopefully I can get floor GA tomorrow. I'm actually considering going for red zone because u2 rocks and I hate money.

In 1987 I was in the drive through of the KFC on Airport when the DJ on KLBJ announced that wrist bands (held your place in line) were being given out at all HEB stores. I raced over to Red River, there were only like 8 of us in line, but it grew to more than a hundred people in just a few minutes. You could look across the parking lot and just see cars streaming in from Red River and people racing one another by foot to the front.

I can't remember what my wrist band number was (I think it was 8), but it had the number printed on it. So for the next few days on campus, students would see each other with these ubiquitous wrist bands and compare numbers. Mine was pretty hard to beat. I was suddenly popular with the ladies.

Had floor seats at the Erwin Center show. It was a memorable experience, from the opening organs on "Streets" to the frantic moments of "Exit." I've never sat and made top-10 list of best shows I've been to, but that one would definitely be in it.

It was a great record. Unlike the records to come, the songs had space and texture. In a similar way, the lyrics had emptiness and longing. It didn't sound at all like everything else on rock radio at the time. It was the gem of a really strong run of records from "October" to "Achtung."

I guess you have to allow bands to grow and change, and U2 couldn't keep making "Joshua Tree" for the next three decades, but damn, they put out some $#@! in the 90's. They abandoned the mostly-empty sonic canvas in favor of a highly layered and excessively "produced" sound, with way too many dirty guitars all hyper-compressed, and the results are about as musical as a chainsaw.

Not sure I'm going to make this reunion show or not.

U2 JT was my first concert ever, and I was the same age as you. 1987 at The Omni in Atlanta (what a dump).

I'll likely pass as I prefer to remember the original. I wonder if the setlist will be the same.

Setlist will be the entire album. I know I'm paying at least 20X what I paid in '87 ($17) to hear two more songs from the album (plus extra tracks).

I've never been a huge U2 fan, but let me share a story I was told yesterday that really improves my view of Bono.

Guy was working security for a U2 show at Oracle Arena, ot whatever it was called 10 or 15 years ago. He gets there hast as the band is finishing soundcheck. Gets in the elevator and guess who follows him in? Bono.

Guy is holding a book in his hand. I don't remember the book but it was part of a series. Bono notices it and comments that he's reading the dame series. So they spend 20 or 30 seconds chatting about how great this series is.

Show happens and life goes on.

A couple weeks later guy comes in for another event and boss says, "there's a package for you here." He opens it and it's a copy of the next book in the series which hadn't been publicly released yet. On the inside leaf was a hand written note from Bono simply saying something like, "Thought you'd enjoy a sneak preview.... Bono"

On of the coolest rock star interaction stories I ever heard.

It better be more than just the album. That's 50 minutes of music. I'm guessing they do a 7-10 song "set A" of their most-played songs off non-Joshua Tree albums. Then they do the Joshua Tree with a hyper-choreographed performance. This would be fine by me.

It'll be their typical 24-26 song set

I'd guess 10 songs, JT, encore of 3-4 songs

I've seen U2 three times in concert. I know that Where the Streets Have No Name is one of their more overplayed songs, but when I hear that intro live in a stadium or arena with anywhere from 20,000 to 50,000 people, it never fails to give me goosebumps.

My wife has the subscription. She used to be a longtime subscriber with kick-ass priority, but she let it lapse and recently renewed, and now she's not finding anything available in Dublin, London or Toronto.

45 minutes later and I still got jack. All this U2 fan club membership has gotten me is 45 minutes of clicking security verification squares picking out what is a storefront.

Yeah, U2 really made out by forcing people (and scalpers) to buy their dumb subscription for $50. I prefer the old fan club way - send in your ticket request directly to U2 and they fulfill them in an orderly fashion. That's how it was in 2001.

I ended up getting decent seats in 307 at NRG, which are about what I got the last time 7ish years ago without paying for a fan club membership. Glad I finally don't have to click any more stupid security verifications, but pissed I paid an extra $50 to get roughly equivalent seats from their last stop in Houston.

Paid the $50 last night, now I go on right at 9am and can't get GA floor tickets for the Rose Bowl. What a waste.

Never mind. Finally got some GA's after trying for over an hour, and actually kinda surprised how cheap these tix are.

Got tickets in the stands - wife and I are too old and cranky to deal with GA crowd stuff. Pricey, but not bad seats - sec 5, about halfway up.

Gonna do a nice weekend in LA.

    $634 for two tickets??

What a ripoff. I pulled two lowers and threw them back.

In 1992, I got tix for the U2 "Achtung Baby" show in Reunion Arena by using the old "Ticketmaster Trick". When hot show tix went on sale, I would call TM in San Antonio (you could never get through right away using the Dallas number). That's how I also got great seats for Sting and Morrissey (at Starplex) back in the day.

So how much are tickets anyways at JerryWorld? My brother bought four in the 300's, which I'm not too thrilled about spending $300/per on. Would rather go the GA route.

How do you explain that to your children?

Bono's a stand-up guy. My wife met him once, and told him to sit the hell down.

Backstory: my wife is a minister, and was performing a VERY small wedding here in town. The couple told her "we have a guest who's a pretty big celebrity, will that rattle you?" My wife has had plenty of celebs at and in her weddings, so she said of course not.

Day of the wedding comes, and they're all ready to start -- maybe 25 guests total. But they're waiting on one. Bride explains that he's on his way, so can we wait a bit longer? Sure. They wait a bit longer. Bride comes back and says "he just landed, so he'll be here soon." My wife asks "landed? We're waiting on someone who's flying in?" The bride says "yes, he flew straight here from Pavarotti's funeral." This gets my wife curious -- "Pavarotti's funeral? Who are we waiting on?" The Bride answers "Paul." Blank look. "Paul Hewson." Blank look. "Bono." Wife says "ok then."

His car pulls up and he walks into the chapel, looking exactly like Bono -- the glasses, the whole deal. He looks right at my wife, who's in a robe at the front. She looks right at him, and points him to the nearest seat, the universal gesture for "sit your ass down." He nods and does so. She marries the couple, all is well. After the wedding, they mingle and trade pleasantries, but she leaves (because she's a pro, and usually doesn't stay around for the reception -- in this case, she should have, because he pulled out a guitar and played "One" for the couple). Turns out he knew the groom from some time working in the music industry in L.A. Groom got in some trouble. Bono helped him get straight, and told him "if you get straight, and get married some day, I'll come to your wedding to celebrate."

The groom isn't a big deal. But Bono helped him out, and made a promise. And he kept it. So he flew from Italy to Austin for a wedding, celebrated the couple's new life together, and then got back on his plane and flew home. Good stuff.
