If you want a van, your options are Toyota or Honda. Anything else is just not in the same league.

Just watched the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore movie Blended and those were prominently product placed. You should buy one if you want to start out rough with a girl on a blind date and then slowly over a few weeks fall in love, after taking a trip to Africa.

The most recent one gets great reviews but you are buying Chrysler unreliability.

Test drove one years ago. Visibility is terrible.

I think reliability is really bad too.

My wife wanted one until she went for a test drive. Now she's looking at Kia Sedonas.

I think they look the slickest out of all the Vans on the market. Just a quick look shows they are priced slightly below the Toyota and Honda, so I'd just go with one of those. If you can't swing that they get the Dodge, or something used. IMO

So.....no one has any real insight?

I have a nice hookup. Employee discount and dealer owner is friend of the family and will give us invoice minus employee basically. The new one gets great reviews and wife wants one. It's essentially the new T&C. Test drove one in the snow today and it was solid. Might be buying one tomorrow. We shall see.

tWife drives a 2012 T&C and it has been very solid for us (this had better not be a $#@!ing jinx on me). They are good for loading a bunch of people and/or $#@! around.

I'm pretty diligent about routine maintenance, oil changes, fluid replacement, tire rotation and replacement, standard stuff like that. The kids call it the mom truck and the stow & go seating is fairly easy and it allows you to haul even more $#@!. This thing is pretty decent for getting around normal everyday snow and Michigans $#@!ty roads.

Remember be American, buy American - and this counts as it is from Windsor, a Detroit suburb.

Tis true. I know a City Boy who was raised there. He took the midnight train going anywhere.

Have lots of experience with Chrysler vehicles between the wife and I and our families. Mostly good. My previous vehicle was a Durango. Nice ride. I like my Tahoe better. Makes my $#@! feel bigger, like it's at least 4-5" now. Looking like a deal is going to be consummated.

I'm not going to $#@! on Chrysler. I've had experience with Jeeps and they seem to be solid, although we sold them around 130k miles. They aren't going to last until 200k like to a Toyota or Honda will. Your likey to have little things break here and there. but if you have a hook-up, then just sell it before things start to break.

what you're thinking of was an failed attempt at a crossover that wasn't butch enough for the compensating crowd.

the current chrysler pacifica is the latest minivan. why they decided to reuse the name (and kill the dodge caravan name) is something reasonable people will never figure out. crazy italians.

Took delivery today. This thing is really nice. Kinda jealous. We'll see if it lives up to the hype or if the Shaggy anti Chrysler mafia is on to something.

FCA(Fiat Chrysler Autos) had the US government charge them, today, with software cooking their diesel emission results a la VW.

    Yeah but everybody's doin it.

I did see that. Not terribly concerned. It's diesel and even if it trickles down gas mileage isn't a huge concern of ours. My wife's commute is < 10 miles r/t and I work from home.

My biggest hope is that she doesn't trash it by letting the kids smash M&Ms and Cheerios into every single $#@!ing crevice in the vehicle's interior. I was ready to start looking tonight at Weather Tech's but on second thought, what the $#@! does it matter. We're not going to sell this vehicle private party....I can say that with 98% confidence. And condition of floormats doesn't seem to factor into trade in value.

You should have gotten leather seats, and you shouldn't have had kids or bought a minivan if you didn't want that to happen.

I don't know about the Chryslers, but at least on our Toyota, the seat tracks for the middle row have rubber strips to keep $#@! from getting in there and getting smashed. If you don't have that, buy some floor mats and cover them. $#@! will get in there.

I still have to remove the kids' seats (I don't mean the kids' carseats, I mean the full seat), every few months and clean out food/socks/lego/Hot Wheels. It's just the nature of the beast.

My parents had one of the first minivans (Dodge Caravan from I think '85) and while it only had two rows of seating, it had a lot of room in the middle between the two rows, and I really liked that, and wish they still made something like that. I know, I could remove our middle row of seats, but then it's too much space in the middle.

Bought a new Odyssey recently (yes I know new model is out next year but I got a killer deal). Love it. Never thought I'd enjoy a mini van over, say, a pilot or other SUV... but, the extra space is BIG. So comfortable.

Hope it turns out good for you man.

I'll tell you straight up my Toyota's have not been perfect...I've had 2 problems with them. BOTH out of warranty. BOTH Toyota stepped up and took care of the vast majority of the bills. The one they ended up eating 100% of a repair on a 120k mile truck (WAAAYYY out of warranty). The other they at $2000 of a $2800 repair (seeping oil seal on the side of the motor that would have run that way forever but I wanted it fixed). With 174k miles on it my Tundra is like the day I bought it. I literally think I'll drive it another 200k-300k miles. I've never sold or traded a Toyota out of the typical fear you typically trade with (every other car I've owned...trany slipping, running rough, dumping cash into it all the time, something seeming imminent to fail...so I'd ditch it). Hell my first Tundra my service manager drives still...it's got over 200k miles on it and is 12 years old. He got offered more than I sold it to him for in 08' just a month ago.

I've only owned ONE Chrysler product. That was enough for one lifetime. My buddy just got T boned in his Dodge Journey (which i dubbed 'Steve Perry') and totaled it. That was the car he got after his Dodge pickup started on fire in the parking lot. I told him 'how many Dodge's does God need to bail you out of before you stop? : ) I think we're finally there.

I kinda wish we had bought a minivan well before we had kids - would have been awesome for road-tripping/camping out. Wouldn't even have to customize it, although the custom rigs are very nice.
