If he dares do that he'll never work as a cop again the rest of his life. Union has long memories.

Love this quote from a Minnesota lawmaker (who happens to be Somali):

"The current officer training program indoctrinates individuals of all races into a system that teaches them to act first, think later, and justify with fear."

When I first read this story, I thought - this had to have been an accidental firearm discharge, right? A cop couldn't possibly be THAT incompetent, right? Lol @ me thinking that.

Now cops are shooting at loud noises while cowering in their cars with their guns out?

Let me get this straight. You're sitting on the passenger side. You've been on the scene in upper middle class Minneapolis for over 20 minutes. A middle age white woman is leaning in talking to the driver. You hear a loud noise that's obviously not from that woman and an undetermined source. You draw your weapon. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're not holding an unholstered weapon while seated. You aim across your partner's face at the woman and shoot her multiple times.

    Sounds plausible.

No reports yet on how tall she is. reasonable people would assume she was probably somewhat leaning over as you do when speaking to someone in a driver's seat. Maybe not totally hunched over at the waist, but certainly some kinda tilt. Her abdomen, where the bullet reportedly hit, had to have been at about the partner's head level. One inch to the left and his partner is likely in a coma, living with brain damage when he wakes up, and a 1930's catcher's mitt for a face. Unless she was over 6' in which case he could aim at that gap area between partner's head and where window frame meets interior ceiling of car. Or if she was like 4' tall and he knows his bullet is going through the door of the car, but again decent chance you take your partner's balls off with the shot and maybe hit is left leg artery.

Unless the sound was a booming voice in the night sky that said, "Everything you know is at a end. The prophet returns...lay waste to them all..."

At 11:27 on Saturday night, Damond called police to report a possible sexual assault, according to a 911 transcript obtained by the Star Tribune Wednesday.

"I'm not sure if she's having sex or being raped," Damond told the operator. After giving her address, Damond continued: "I think she just yelled out 'help,' but it's difficult the sound has been going on for a while, but I think, I don't think she's enjoying it."

"OK," said the operator, "I've already got an officer on the way."

About eight minutes later, Damond called 911 again to make sure they got her address right. She repeated the report of hearing a woman screaming, and the operator assured her the officers were en route.

Might be coming up on an alley rape. So your first instinct is to shut your cameras...off? Yeah, what use would police video be in the ultimate he said/she said crime?

Police Claim Damond ‘Ambushed’ Cops-Unarmed in Pajamas-Family Blasts it as ‘Disinformation’

While the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is still conducting its investigation into Saturday’s fatal shooting of a beloved mother and life coach Justine Damond, sources close to the investigation are now saying Officer Mohamed Noor and Matthew Harrity believed they were being ambushed. But the attorney for Damond’s family isn’t buying that explanation.

Officer Noor shot and killed Damond from the passenger seat of his cruiser, firing over his partner, and through the driver’s side window striking Damond in the abdomen, killing her. To date, neither officer has spoken with the press, and Noor has reportedly refused to speak with BCA investigators. Neither officer’s body camera was recording at the time and the shooting was said not to have been captured by the cruiser’s dashcam — because it was off too.

The notion the officers believed they were being ambushed by Damond was quickly rejected by the Damond family’s lawyer, Robert Bennet. “She obviously wasn’t armed, was not a threat to anyone, and nor could she have reasonably perceived to be,” he said.

“I think that’s ludicrous,” Bennett said adding, “It’s disinformation … it doesn’t have any basis in fact.”

“The person who called 911 was shot in her pajamas.”

On Wednesday, KTSP reporters would not reveal who it was making the ambush defense claims, but on Thursday, the Associated Press confirmed the person asserting the ambush claim to be Harrity’s lawyer, Fred Bruno.

Bruno said for his client to have perceived himself to be caught in an ambush was “certainly reasonable.”

READ MORE: Audio Released of Cops Who Turned Off Body Cams And Killed Justine Damond
“It was only a few weeks ago when a female NYPD cop and mother of twins was executed in her car in a very similar scenario,” Bruno said.

The ambush defense appears to be the one lawyers will contend as the justification for shooting an unarmed pajama wearing mother who, herself, called 911. Such a defense would allow both officers to claim they were in “fear for their lives,” but such a claim may not hold up in court if cell phone footage of the incident is presented.

On Thursday, the Associated Press reported a bicyclist was passing by at the time of the shooting and captured the entire aftermath, where officers reportedly administered CPR for four minutes. That footage has not yet been made public but it may reveal interesting details about the fateful night in question; the position of the police cruiser, the response by the officers, and any fireworks reported to have been exploding.

Also acknowledged, was the fact Officer Noor had his handgun in his lap, out of his holster, and in the $#@!ed and loaded position when Damond knocked on the driver’s side window.

While die-hard defenders of police tactics may believe it is perfectly reasonable for an officer to be prepared to shoot at all times, we at The Free Thought Project have expressed the inherent dangers of keeping one’s finger on the trigger.

In a recent publication, we detailed one citizen’s concern the public might be at risk if cops keep their guns in their hands while they’re in their vehicle conducting police investigations. Now, it seems, those fears have been realized with the taking of Damond’s life.

In a statement to the media this week, the family said they are asking for people to respect their privacy.

why in the $#@! was the cruisers camera NOT activated? those are supposed to either record the whole shift, and audio linked to the cops walkie's - OR record the moment the cops turn on either the lights or sirens

I understand at night, cops dont like using sirens, but considering it was a 911 call claiming woman was being raped... you would think the lights would have at least been turned on to allow them to haul ass.

Anybody wanna back our startup company's invention---little IoT device no bigger than a watch battery that sits inside a holster. When the weapon is removed, it automatically signals the bodycam and dashcam to turn on for 10 minutes with no override. It also sends a signal back to dispatch or the nearest other patrol car or officer-on-foot that you have removed your weapon and may be in need of backup since the situation has obviously gotten bad. and if they do not hear back from within a specified time period, it sends EMS to the last known location because the system may also believe an officer removed his weapon due to a serious threat, and was shot and is incapacitated and unable to radio.

I think that takes a fair amount of bull$#@! out of the loop.

No way man, the body cam should be on at all times when the officer is on duty. I would rather see a device that turns the cam on when they $#@!ing clock in and turns off when they clock out.

I doubt it would've mattered unless the dash cam takes a side view where the victim was standing

there does need to be one out with regards to bodycams. Mainly for foot-patrol officers in urban areas. If you can't convince the myriad witnesses in any given day you've turned off your camera so their identity is safe, you won't get 95% of the info you need for most inner-city crime investigations. My idea doesn't totally solve for that, but it sure as $#@! helps.

If cop turns off his body cam, he should be fired immediately, lose his pension, and he and his entire family be raped by grizzly bears.

They don't seem to have a problem when Cops, County Law or Live PD are recording everything.
