Sold Out around 30 minutes ago; no idea on what production #'s were like for the 1st day.
Rain has come in now & is fading. It was enough to get everyone else runnd offt.
The kids were happy w the cue, as was I. And the gal sitting next to us was happy with it:

My boy was about to ask for her digits when the rain came back in.
No food pics (can't find my Fuji), however it was like having Louie Mueller relocated to a trailer in Central South Austin... +10 points for what I will assume is an even fresher product.
Bark was marvelous (we selected our brisket lean), sausage was perfection in a coarse, non peppery fill.
Turkey was sampled simply so I could say I had it, however the wife reported it as "good, I liked it. Moist, I liked it. What the hell else do you want me to say?".
Pork tenderloin a solid 9+ & I had probably one of the moistest cuts ever.
Pork ribs were sold out; no dino bones today.
No report on the tater salad or beans, 'cause who cares?

I had a link, 2 ribs and some fatty from an end today at 12:45 or so and John gave me extra brisket. The link was dried out with a shriveled casing. Beef sausage is already dry enough and the extra time on the fire did not help matters (C). The ribs were good and didn't pull completely off the bone in one bite which I like. Peppery rub, but a touch more salt would have nailed it. No real complaint though. (B+). The fatty was excellent, reminded me of Franklin which is a good thing. Since they piled it on a bit I took some back to the office and just had it. Glorious. (A) I could do without the cup of drippings/sauce and didn't try any sides. Going back soon before my blood work comes back.
I had a lunch meeting today. Tomorrow I'm going to go hit it with the wifey.
Pretty much. I was stuck here without a car, after a 6-pack and an extreme beatdown, I got on the internet tethered to my phone and took no more calls until late afternoon. Even then my SIL had gotten home and I was too far gone to drive. Then it rained and I rejoiced. So it was all up and down, down and up. Sorry for not calling you back but I would have been bad company if I had driven in and even worse company if I had driven at all. So I stayed here hoping the aggy would fail, but alas they didn't, they just got feces on there buses. Which is normal.Judge Roy was supposed to come with me but isn't answering the phone... After that lousy game, I assume he is wallowing in a pool of his own filth & CAN'T answer.
In other words I had too much to drive, and was too pissed to call you back, and I was tethered to the phone which prevented any other contact. Best of all worlds after an afternoon like that, considering it rained.

Brisket was great, just like I remembered. We got one lb. of moist/fatty. It had a very nice peppery bark and an excellent flavor. I nearly ate 3/4 lb of it. The sauce wasn't needed at all, but I did use it on some of the drier, leaner end bits.
We also got sausage, potato salad, and beans. JM still makes the best potato salad I've ever had.
Had the beef ribs yesterday and they were easily the star. They're massive, almost 1 lb per rib with a LOT of meat and they are a little like Franklin brisket on a stick. Glorious.
We had some of everything. His brisket was very good, but the pork loin was beautifully moist and the pork ribs were perfectly cooked and not too spiced, you got the pork flavor and not the rub. His sausage was very good too, thick and juicy with the right snap. We're damned lucky to have him back in town because his food kicks all kinds of ass.
whatever forced him to close down last go round, i hope he's doing everything to avoid that this time.
looking forward to making it out there. not today though, cuz I've got smitty's in the fridge.
Got it today finally, the brisket was decent, but the beef rib was really good, and huge to boot. That sausage doesn't do much for me either. Definitely guy food though, my wife was decidedly meh about the whole thing.
I can see this place getting super busy if you don't get there early enough because the word hasn't even spread and his parking lot is full.
Got there around 11:45, 6 people in line ahead of me, had everything in stock (except coke).
Had brisket, link, and beef rib. And potato salad.
It was all good. Also tried some of MMD's pork ribs, also good.
I'm not going to worry about grading or ranking. It wasn't the best I've ever had for any of it, but it was all upper echelon.
His fatty brisket was outstanding but the leaner bits of it were noticeably drier. That makes me very hesitant to ever try the lean. The rub is no where near as peppery as LM in Taylor which is a good thing. I thought the rub was just the right about of pepper.
The sausage was great, love the coarse grind. I wouldn't mind a jalapeno version but nonetheless, I'll probably order a link each time I go.
The beef rib looked fantastic... Hopefully he's not out of it next time we go.
In and out in less than an hour... That alone makes me want to go there over Franklin. Though I do fear the lack of lines is going to change.
What hornian said. Brisket and pork ribs were both delicious, and his beef rib may have been better than the pork. It's rare that I reach that conclusion.
I wish I could have gotten the squash as a side, but I didn't need a pint and I didn't really go there for squash.

Anywho, it wasn't saying you could only by the potato salad by the serving, or the cole slaw by the quart. That was the price for all the sides. So you COULD have gotten a serving of the squash, it just looked like he was saying how much it cost by the pint based on an unclear, handwritten menu.
Or maybe you just like to buy in bulk.
We definitely saw people getting single-serving-sized portions of the squash on Tuesday, not by the pint.

I had fatty brisket, sausage, and a taste of pork loin. All outstanding, really really good.
Staff was cool and efficient.
I will frequent this place as it is close to home and work.
Glad to see him back on the scene, instantly up there in terms of BBQ available in Austin.
I am happy.
Got there at 1pm, sold out of brisket and ribs. I'll have to try again tomorrow.

The good food, I expected. The number of businessmen in white collared shirts, on the other hand, was a little surprising. Out of the thirty or so people eating lunch at 11 a.m. today, there were only four women, including the three at my table.
Not that businessmen don’t eat barbecue, but there were just so many of them, including a few at the table next to ours who were fans of his when he had the Manor Road restaurant and who were just so excited about the food I had to put a camera in their face so they could tell you themselves.
I noticed all the "businessmen" as well, assumed it was a bunch of you guys :)
My wife commented that it seemed like a place for guys to eat. He needs to add beer to his menu, then I could do lunch there for several hours.
The parking situation is going to suck there though, I can see that already.
Had the prime rib today. Was smokey good, huge slab of meat sold in 1/2 lb. portions.
Squash was very good.
Brisket and sausage as well on point.
