Well, it was between that and paying the rest of my daughter's college tuition off.
Family shame is a hell of an obstacle, but at least I'll have my resentment to keep me warm in the winter.
Early Floyd is hit and miss.
1970 on is all rock solid.

Yeah, I may have to stash away a few bucks every month and maybe pick it up in a year or so, too rich for my blood right now. I've got probably 75-80% of that material (the audio anyway) already, not in that quality, but enough to keep it from being a "must-have" for now...
Always thought it was cool they had their own football club...
Crazy how Cajunhorn is a bitter adversary in the cloakroom and then I come over to the Floyd thread and I want to be all like
Aw HG, that $#@! ain't important. I'll $#@! with the other side when the time is right.
Yeah, that's serious $#@!.
HG, you sunuvabitch! What's da matta? Texas Exes got you pushing too many pencils?
+ rep for both you guys for realizing what is bull$#@! and what is really important.
picked up the vinyl reissues of Division Bell and DSOTM cut from the master tapes. going to get some proper listening sessions in next week while i'm off work. very ready.
NSIAP (It's not on this page, at least, and it should probably be on each page at least once)
I can't find a YouTube video of Roger Waters The Wall version of Comfortably Numb, but take my word for it, it $#@!s - Very powerful imagery and a pristine performance. If you haven't already, check out the full movie. It's kinda incredible. This version of Comfortably Numb is a religious experience.
Well, $#@!, if reposts are within the rules then I'll reminisce about last April at MSG.
Why the $#@! not?...
Man, I wish they'd just release an official live set from the 70s. Not some sprawling 10 CD thing. Just take the best of the recordings out there, clean them up, and show us how well PF did it back in the day when it was really just the four of them at their peak. Like the Zep one that came out a few years back.
Is that too much to ask?
No, no it's not too much to ask.
Like I said, this is MUCH more important than politics.
Charade you are...
I saw this on the Y! a week or so ago, never heard it before, and different from the version released on the Wall Immersion set, totally different lyrics of course, but feel and rhythm is very much the same...
And as for live recordings, I'll offer a few of my favorites, most of these you can find the whole concert on youtube if not posted here (some are complete shows, some just a tune), sound quality of course may vary:
Wife ordered this for the boy as a surprise. I was super excited.
Some PF fan/meme maker out there understands the Shag...
^^Badass Henry, just listened. I had no idea about the spitting incident and how it spawned The Wall (if my quick research of this was accurate).
Good stuff man.
Came here to say some of those live recordings of Animals tours you can hear the sheer tension as Roger barks at the crowd. That tour cracked him, he'd shout out the number of the show in that tour...'18!'
Also for trivia fans, this show is the genesis of "Comfortably Numb", Roger did not play the encore (hence the title of the bootleg):
According to Rolling Stone, the lyrics came from Roger Waters' experience when he was injected with tranquilizers for stomach cramps by a doctor prior to playing a Pink Floyd show in Philadelphia on the band's 1977 In the Flesh tour. "That was the longest two hours of my life," Waters said, "trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm." The experience gave him the idea which eventually became the lyrics to this song.
Mornin' fellas. Just spreading the love of DG from back in April. So, you'd better RUN...
*vid comes to focus and steadies halfway through the intro when the bright lights ignite. Fat guy behind me kept bumping me with his gut. At least I hope that was his gut.

And from the other end of the journey...
I went to a graveside service the other day and as I walked back to my car all the gravestones were facing away from me. On the back of a black marble stone were the words "... comfortably numb."
My wife was doped up 9 ways to Sunday. She might have given him a quick reacharound.
Our epidural guy knocked our door, popped his head in with the epidural bag thingy hanging on a rolling coathook behind him, and said, "Margarita Man!"
