I'll make you a good deal on mine if I end up getting that previously mentioned Fender Deluxe Reverb.

I need to crank up my Matchless again at some point. I'm just all about the acoustics these days.

    Cases

Martin's come with these molded plastic she'll cases, I believe they are made by TKL. The Gibson, as dud my Taylor, has the old style wood and tolex case. In my opinion, it's time everyone go to the TKL cases Martin uses.

    A) I can't believe how heavy the Hummingbird is when in the case. The Martin is light as a feather and the Gibson feels like I'm carrying a bag of bricks.

    B) Fit. The Gibson case is so snug you have to lay the guitar on top, get it all lined up, then kind of shimmy it down. The Martin just kinda falls into its spot effirtlessly.

    C) Protection. Because the Gibson fits so tight, it feels like any damage to the case, like a drop, would transfer immediately to the instrument. Meanwhile the Martin is protected by a hard shell while being surrounded by plenty of padding.

So, TKL sells a Dreadnought case that a reviewer on Amazon says fits his Hummingbird perfectly. I went a head and ordered one. A small part of me wants to buy a D28 instead and use its case when I want to take the Gibson out. I mean, cases just take up space, may as well have a nice guitar to go with it.

I'm pretty $#@!ing spoiled with them I have to say; and I'm so happy I chose that Gibson over another Martin. I'll play the Gibson all day in pure bliss thinking nothing can sound better, then in the evening I'll grab the Martin and be reminded why I love it so much.

Shaggy Guitar Mafia motto. That and JimmyJazz's comment about anytime you feel guilty about buying a new guitar, just go look at all the shoes in your wife's closet.

I'll say the reason I bring up cases is because for whatever reason, I'm taking the Gibson with me wherever I go more than any guitar I've ever owned. Its been to the beech, the park, and numerous other places. Me and Mad sat on a bench outside a bar and played while waiting for a band to start inside, took it to a BBQ at a friends Saturday for some sing along stuff, took it to another friends on Sunday where we did some pickin' and "stoop drinkin'" in the Mission. It has a great voice for that kind of playing.

    The Guitar Pron Thread

The only bonus to the tolex case is it does look cooler when beat up.

Absolutely beautiful instruments, thank you for sharing. I appreciate the info on the cases as well, that's good stuff to know.

Interesting article, I'll have more to say after I think about it a while.

The Taylor Swift stuff jumped out at me; it was here a few years ago somebody was touting her significance, I think maybe Jimmy Jazz. She's been on my radar every since, still haven't bought a record though. The point was that she could actually sing, play an instrument and writes her own material - plus she's not bad to look at. Even better for her if she's inspiring a generation of young girls to take up music. Whatever it takes to keep the beat going on.

I'd bet a lot of those lost sales are being made on the used market, now. CL, Reverb, etc....
